break down of classes...

ED 500:
So this class is "Foundations of Educational Practice" and in most cases the class is just about as thrilling as the title is. Pretty much we read articles about educational reform written in the earl 1900s and then discuss them. Are they important? Do you agree? Best point? etc etc. I have to give the professor props...he is fun and knows his stuff. I do however am questioning whether or not this type of class is necessary for my teacher training...will it actually help me???

about a 2 minute walk from my apartment!

ED 511:
Ok so this is my Science Methods course...or really how to be a science teacher. It is rather enjoyable, but I do feel like it could be better. I learn a lot about how I teach and how I can improve myself. The only thing is there is a lot of emphasis on 3 page long lesson plans. Yeah...we will see how that works out for me.

BIO 575:
My symbiosis class. This class is exactly what you would think it would be...all about symbiosis or animals/amoeba/fungi working together. On the macro level I find this subject fascinating...problem is that most of it is on the micro level. It is interesting. A bit challenging. I am able to keep up with the Bio kids so i am pretty pleased overall with this class. The teacher is my advisor so he tries to make the class fun...sometimes that is a fail.

GEO 650:
This is my Environmental Field Methods courses. I have to say this course is hard but I LOVE IT! The reason I love it is really the professor. Although he went to Duke (cough cough) he really knows his stuff and explains it well. Ok also he is SUPER flexible about assignments and grading and makes it obvious he just wants us to do well. I am learning tons!

Ok so overall I am really happy with my classes. As I have sad before my classmates are another story. While I find a fair amount of them smart, a bunch of them don't impress me too much. It's definitely not UNC, but hey what is?

yo!

So I know it has been awhile since I have posted, but it's hard during the days of awe to find time. It turned out that last week was the week from Hell for Aaron, and not a walk in the park for me either. Sadly, after a quick glance at the week in my planner it doesn't look like this one is going to be much better. With a paper I haven't started, a literacy test (whatever that is?), and reading out the kazoo I am completely bogged down. Tomorrow is going to be quite hard for me as well. I have to teach from 7:30-1pm and then I really need to get some of this work knocked out because that stupid Literacy Test is Wednesday night and the rest of the stuff is due Thursday morning. So for the time being I am off to sleep and I promise I will find more than 5 minutes this week to write a different blog. Until then....have a WONDERFUL day!

photographic evidence

caught in the act!

reasons my cat might be gay...

1) He refuses to eat raw chicken
2) He enjoys fresh veggies (his favorite is corn on the cob)
3) He will only eat fancy feast
4) He loves to be brushed esp on his butt
5) He is very clean, and makes sure the spot between his toes is pristine
6) He loves hugs
7) He sneezes like a girl
8) He has a favorite blankie
9) He LOVES watching Real Housewives of Atlanta with me

and finally

10) He is always sticking his face in Aaron's crotch

now I am certainly no cat expert...what do YOU think?

her name was Lola, she's still my show bun

Last night my baby Lola was taken from me, probably due to the large tumor growing on the side of her face. She went into convulsions and quickly passed on. Up until her quick downhill in health she was doing amazing. Having fun making fun of Howie and running around like she did in her youth. I got Lola when I was in 10th grade, so needless to say I miss her a lot. Lola lived in my room, Alix's room, 2 classrooms, and my apartment in Boston. She was truly a wonderful bunny. She is being cremated and I will bring her back to NC soon. I know many, if not all of you, knew Lola. Anyway...I like to think of her lounging by a bit yogurt pool in big sunglasses sipping yogurt margs. Because she was classy like that. :)

Inglorious...but wait...where are they???

So here is my febel attempt at reviewing the movie (which I am sure all of you have seen) Inglorious Bastards. (and by review I just mean a few thoughts)

Aaron, Kar, Julia, and I went to go see the film yesterday at the Sommerville Theatre which is cheap and serves beer (brilliant!). I got to tell you, it started out good. Killing Nazis, kicking ass, and body mutulation are just some of the fun details that made this film enjoyable. However there were some let downs. My biggest problem with this film is the lack of presence of the 'bastards'. I found their story to be the most interesting, and yet we don't see them that much. Also the movie hops from 1941 to 1944 which in WWII time is pretty redic...and they don't give much insight to what happened to our main characters during that time. I enjoyed the story of Shoshana...but still, more bastards would have been more fun. Enough of the complaining...my favorite part of the movie was when Hitler died or should I say was murdered! Listen I realize this didn't happen in real life but wouldn't it just be a little bad ass if the Nazi reign was brought down by a bunch of badass Jews? Just saying...i liked that touch.

Ok enough of that. My day today was spent moving Aaron into Harvard. It was so nice! I really think he is going to enjoy it there. His room is a bit small, but can we just talk about the Kitchen for a minute??? It was soooooo badass! 2 huge fridges, all new appliances, water purifier etc etc My theory is that they made the kitchen so nice to distract people from the fact that the dorm looks like a Super 8 motel from 1960...which is weird because the rest of Harvard is gorgeous. Well anyway, we got him all settled in without a hitch, and he is currently mingling with the other future top lawyers of America at a Cook Out...how quaint of them. Anyway I am outtie!

my pets have switched bodies!

In the never ending adventure that is trying to get Howie to like Lola, we have a new flip. Since I last wrote about these two they have been lying near eachother, Lola has rub noses with Howie, and Howie has been scared of any move Lola makes. It has been a very cute relationship. Well tonight while Lola was out on her daily hop Howie decided to check out what this rabbit cage was all about. That was when I discovered this...adorable I know!
In other new I have a doctors appointment on September 1st to get my tetnus shot. I am pretty scared because, as most of you know, I am super scared of shots. Ugh. Also it is starting to cool down here in Boston...like mid-80s which makes it a bit more comfortable to sleep (without AC) Well I have to sign off for the time being because Real Chance at Love 2 is on. Toodles!
